Well, what is it?

What are valances?

And just to be clear, valances are not intended for use with bed frames but are for the bed base part of an ensemble.
So what types of valances are there?
There is a wide range of valances available that vary depending on what your needs are out of a valance. Choosing the right valance for you is crucial and I have a few tips on how to choose the best one!
Step 1. Know the size of your bed.
Knowing the size of your bed is crucial when buying any bedding product, whether it be quilt covers or sheets. You can either look at the tag of your mattress or you can measure the bed yourself. It is always recommended even if your mattresses tag mentions the size of your bed that you measure your bed to ensure you get the right size bedding. Here are the average sizes for the different sizes of beds:
Single beds are around 90cm x 190cm
King Single beds are around 110cm x 200cm
Double beds are around 140cm x 190cm
Queen beds are around 150cm x 200cm
King beds are around 180cm x 200cm
By knowing the size of your bed, you can easily choose the right size valance for you.
Step 2. Decide on what type of valance you would need.
There are a few different types of valances you can get, and the best one for you depends on your needs. Let's take a look at some of the options.
Easy Fit Valances
Easy Fit Valances are perfect for those who want a valance but don't want to fully dismantle their bed. Attaching an easy fit valance is, well, easy! You don't need to remove your mattress and the easy fit valances just attach to the walls of your bed base!

Stretch Valances
Stretch Valances are as the name implies, stretchy!
To attach this to your bed base, simply stretch out the valance and wrap it around the base of your bed.
You will need to move your mattress but you might not have to fully remove it.
Of course, if you are struggling to attach it, it is best to remove the mattress completely and then add the valance.
