What's the difference between bedspreads / coverlets and quilt cover sets?

The main difference is that a double size quilt cover requires a quilt / doona insert. A bedspread / coverlet is a prefilled bedcover that can vary in thickness. They are not only used for warmth, but decoration as well. They are easy to use and to setup, and are reliable items of bedding. Quilt covers are the more popular choice, as there is more choice of filling readily available and it is easy to insert your favourite design over any filling you need.
